Diyaluma Falls
Diyaluma Falls is one of Sri Lanka’s most impressive and stunning waterfalls, located in the Koslanda area of the Badulla District. It stands as the second tallest waterfall in Sri Lanka, with a dramatic drop of 220 meters. The falls are nestled amidst the Uva Highlands, offering a breathtaking view of the surrounding tea plantations and mountains.
Diyaluma Falls is a tiered waterfall, with the water flowing in multiple stages down the rocks, creating a mesmerizing cascade. A notable feature of the falls is the natural pools at its upper section, where visitors can swim and enjoy panoramic views of the lush landscape. The spot is famous for its beauty, often attracting adventure seekers who trek to the top to experience the serene atmosphere and stunning views.
The waterfall is easily accessible by a short hike from the main road, with several viewpoints along the way providing breathtaking vistas of the surrounding area. The best viewpoint for Diyaluma Falls is from a cliff near the base, offering a full view of its majestic drop.
Diyaluma is located approximately 6 km from the town of Koslanda, and around 30 km from Badulla. It is about 170 km from Colombo, making it a popular stop for travelers exploring the central highlands. The best time to visit is during the dry season (from December to April), when the weather is pleasant, and the waterfall is particularly beautiful. However, the falls are also strik during the rainy season when the water flow is at its fullest.
